FAQ & Policies

-Cancellations within 24 hours will result in a missed lesson. We don’t offer makeup lessons for lessons canceled within 24 hours. This included sudden illness or car troubles.

-Makeup lessons may be redeemed 7 days before, 7 days after, or during the same calendar month. Any of these timing options may be selected. 

-Teachers will wait until 15 minutes after the lesson start time, at which point the lesson will be forfeited. If you have a lesson longer than 30 mins and are running more than 15 minutes late, please call and alert desk staff. Desk staff will do what they can to preserve a salvageable portion of the lesson. 

-One-time Annual Membership Fee of $60 includes the books & other materials that the studio provides the student while they are a member at LHSM. It facilitates Instructor Development which allows teachers to create new teaching approaches and hone their craft. It also provides concierge administration and coordination for rescheduling, which is a huge benefit to our members. Debited annually through AutoPay.

-LHSM follows the RISD schedule for holidays and inclement weather (with some exceptions). For holidays we do not offer makeup lessons, except for Memorial Day and Labor Day. 

–We have an “average billing” approach to lessons. Certain months out of the year, you will receive 5 lessons in a month at no extra charge. Certain months like December, you will only receive 3 lessons. Over the course of time, the lesson count per month averages out to 4 lessons. That is what we base our pricing on. 

–In the event of inclement weather, we will offer several options for a makeup lesson. No refund will be given; the lesson will be noted as a credit for a makeup lesson. 

-At LHSM there are no long term contracts, we simply require 30 days notice to discontinue lessons. An email or a conversation with staff will suffice for lesson discontinuation. After notice is given, the following payment will be prorated based on how many days into the following month the 30 day time span includes. 

-We believe music lessons are a year-round activity and do not un-enroll students or break during summers. We offer several flexible plans during summers that don’t penalize students and families for travel or summer camp. 

-Unenrollment: If you un-enroll or discontinue lessons, the Membership Fee will be charged upon re-enrollment. 

-Billing comes out on the 1st of the month as a payment for the entire month.

-If a student is not feeling well or ill and it’s already past the 24-hour mark, a family member or a friend may take the lesson.
