A native of Denton Texas, modern and historical violinist Thane began his musical studies in 1992. He earned a bachelor of music in violin performance in 2009 from the University of North Texas with a special emphasis in early music studies. In 2012, Thane completed a post-graduate residency and teaching assistantship at Yale University as one-fifth of the Yale Baroque Ensemble, highlighting medieval and Renaissance studies utilizing highly unique period instruments.
Performing with several groups across the United States, a few of Thane’s credentials include repeated appearances with Juilliard415 of the Juilliard School, Voxtet of Yale, Turtle Creek Chorale, Austin Baroque Orchestra, San Francisco Bach Choir, American Baroque Opera Company, Dallas Bach Society, Lumedia Musicworks, Tulsa Symphony, Ensemble VIII, and the Grammy-award-winner Conspirare. His contributions have been heard on the Sony Music Entertainment label and in film score recordings for Turner Classic Movies. Having shared the stage with such notables as Itzhak Perlman, Bela Fleck, Dave Brubeck, Jackie Evancho, Edgar Meyer, Kanye West, Mark O’Connor, Lynn Anderson, Larry Gatlin, and Sir James Galway, he enjoys traveling for such performance opportunities, having toured Asia, the Americas, and Europe with small ensembles. A composer in several genres, his original compositions have premiered several times in the Greater Dallas area, private events in Denver, and at the Days and Nights Music Festival in New York City.
