We’ve made changes to Lake Highlands School of Music so we can ensure the SAFEST in-person music lessons possible!
We have wired pairs of rooms together. Each room has a microphone and a pair of headphones. Teachers and students will have their own separate rooms, but will experience real time audio. Video feed will still take place via Zoom, but the audio will be muted. Zoom meetings on the same network have way less lag time.
Enter LHSM, have temperature taken by staff with infrared thermometer, and walk straight to your studio.
Sanitize your hands with sanitizer provided in your studio; your studio will have been sanitized prior to your entry using eco-friendly Clean Republic disinfectant and rubbing alcohol solution on all communal surfaces.
Teacher will be in the room next door, and will turn on the micro-mixer, which will have volume controls for your student’s microphone, the teacher’s microphone, your student’s personal headphones, and the teacher’s headphones. These mics will pick up the sound of your student’s voice and/or the sound of your student’s instrument. Teachers control the volume to all channels on the mixer.
An LHSM laptop will be logged into a Zoom meeting which will have minimal lag. Audio will be muted; Zoom will provide the video aspect of the meeting.
Teachers will be able to briefly walk into student rooms to make adjustments if necessary.
Drum lessons will take place in the jam room but we will have a drum cage for students. That room is large enough to maintain proper distance.
Bathrooms will be regularly sanitized by staff and a small trashcan will be provided near the door to dispose of the paper towel used to turn off the water and open the bathroom door.
The lobby is limited to 4 people; staff at front desk and one person per wall. Families are encouraged to wait for student’s in their cars.
